VeloceDB is the database. SQL and Tachyon ISAM in one process. TCP 1583 / 2143 / 1584 are protocol-class analogs. Native multiplexer leftover EXTERNAL. In-process pooler does not listen on :6432. Native PgBouncer leftover EXTERNAL. You install a workgroup engine, then connect with ODBC, JDBC, or the veloce CLI on TCP 2143 — plus operator HTTP on 8098. psql talks only to an optional localhost Postgres sidecar, not to Tachyon SQL.

ODBC, JDBC, and the veloce CLI on TCP 2143 (CRLF line protocol). SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TESTDB, INSERT, GET, MINSERT, and MGET commit. JOIN, CTE, CREATE DATABASE, and BEGIN return ERROR — they are not implemented. psql cannot speak this wire.
Optional. Install Postgres yourself on 127.0.0.1:5432 (do not bind 0.0.0.0). Then psql -h 127.0.0.1 -p 5432. Native PgBouncer on :6432 stays EXTERNAL. The 2.18 session-pooler package is in-process and does not listen on 6432.
TCP 1584 membership and heartbeat. Replica GET after SET ROLE replica or via velocedb-lb. Manual failover is FAILOVER RESUME YES (same dual-control phrase as the kill-switch). Automatic promotion uses a heartbeat timeout and an epoch fence so only one primary remains. Stop the replica before restarting the primary. Testdb-only. Fence example host03-1584. Not Always On. Nine-region fabric, DPDK, and K8s stay EXTERNAL.
